Journey of Discovery
September 29, 9:00 am - 1:00 pmRSVP to Ashley

LAST CHANCE TO RSVP!

We invite our parents to join us for a powerful experience where you will be immersed in Montessori philosophy, from the Nido class through Upper Elementary. Parents will first be asked to experience the classroom as a silent observer, refraining from touching materials or speaking to others in the room. After this observation, you will become an active participant, receiving lessons and completing work using Montessori materials, from the Pink Tower to Test Tubes. Participants must be able to stay for the full timePlease join us for this amazing parent development opportunity!

Lunch and free childcare will be provided; please RSVP to Ashley so we can plan accordingly.

Parent/Teacher Conferences

Parent/Teacher Conferences and Individual Portraits
October 8, 2018, No Class or Extended Day

It's almost time to meet your child's teacher to review progress and discuss goal setting. You should receive an invitation to select a time for your conference on Bloomz. Be sure to sign up for your personal meeting with the teacher to go over very important information about your child.

Additionally, Monte B will be here between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm for individual portrait sessions, which provides a perfect opportunity for your child to pose for great photos with parents nearby. Please arrive early, before your scheduled conference time, to have the photos taken. After pictures, drop off your child on the other side of the multipurpose room for childcare during your scheduled conference time, which is provided free of charge between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm for the Early Childhood and Elementary programs. No care is available for the Infant or Toddler programs; please feel free to bring your child to your conference with you.

Please note: No childcare will be provided for conferences scheduled for other days and/or times unless you make prior arrangements with David.

Did you know?
Peace Day Fish
Peace Day Lanterns

Peace Day was Sept. 21

You may have seen the peace and harmony fish and lanterns hanging in the hallways of TMA on Peace Day. Our elementary students made these in celebration of this special day. Our Early Childhood and Elementary students sang, "Light a Candle for Peace" and we live streamed the event. You can still see it on our Facebook page in case you missed it. They took part in this special event where the song is sung continuously for 24-hours by children around the world.

TMA Strategic Themes Survey

We received 48 responses to our survey and we want to share the results with you in this nifty dashboard. One survey question asked how likely you would be to recommend TMA to others and the responses calculate a Net Promoter Score (NPS). NPS is a way to gauge overall satisfaction with a company's product or service and the customer's loyalty to the brand. The scale runs from -100 to +100 and we scored at +69. That is a GREAT score, the same as Amazon and only 3 points below Apple! We are blown away by the positive responses from the community and we will continue to make improvements where needed. Thank you for your input and positive feedback!

Backyard Bash Date Has Been Set - November 3, 2-5 pm

The Backyard Bash is a TMA community event that invites everyone to have a great time. This year's Bash will be a free event on Saturday, November 3, from 2-5 pm. We will have lots of fun "backyard games" as well as an inflatable obstacle course, petting zoo, people plates, and musical entertainment. We will also have food and snacks. It will be a great community event!

Sponsorship opportunities are now available. We have 3 levels of support this year, Gold, Silver, and Bronze. All levels provide:

  • Thank you on social media
  • Signage at the Backyard Bash
  • VIP parking in front of the school during the Backyard Bash

The Gold and Silver levels sponsor an activity or a food or entertainment booth. Contact Lisa to become a sponsor!

If you would like to be involved in the planning of the Backyard Bash, there is a private Facebook group to share information. Just click on the link, then click Join, and you will be automatically accepted. The committee needs as many helpers as they can get!

Fundraising at TMA

Fundraising at TMA

While the guidelines for the types of fundraisers we hold haven't changed, we realized that we didn't have these in an easily accessible format. We have updated our TMA Community document to include these guidelines and have included them below for your reference. If you have any questions, please contact Lynette.

Fundraising at TMA is quite different from other schools. Our mission is to provide quality Montessori education to children of various economic, ethnic, and intellectual backgrounds in a supportive “parent-teacher-child” environment. Unless a fundraising activity directly supports this mission, any funds raised are considered unrelated business income. Taxes are imposed on any amount of unrelated business income over $1,000; exceeding this amount would require us to file an additional tax return. As a non-profit, we are regulated by 4 agencies, one of which allows fundraising without incurring taxes on 2 days each year. Ongoing fundraisers and those that can be seen as competing with taxable businesses would require us to pay taxes and file an additional tax return. Because of these tax and regulatory consequences, we limit fundraising to the 2 days provided by the regulatory agency, one in the fall and one in the spring.

Elementary Playground Update

Elementary Playground Structure Update

You may have noticed some changes on the Elementary playground. The overhead shade structure and monkey bars were damaged during a recent storm and it took some time for us to work through the insurance and bidding process. The damaged structures have been removed and it is open, once again, for the children to use. The new shade structure and monkey bars with new features should be installed in approximately 8-10 weeks. While we wish this process could move faster, but these are specialty items that can't be picked up at the local home store. Thank you for your patience!
