Chores and More
Every now and then an email arrives in my inbox that grabs me from the opening paragraph and even makes me smile. A recent article from Wendy Calise, Head of School at Countryside Montessori School and Director of Montessori Teachers Institute for Professional Studies, in Chicago, did just that. The title is “Three Ways to Raise Standout Young Adults” and here’s the opening paragraph:
Who wouldn’t say “yes” and then want to know the three things! One of the “things” is chores, which Wendy refers to as “things to do that contribute to your family life,” another nod to viewing chores as community service to the family and involving children in that work. She also explores, “New Age Parenting Myths” and then reframes each one by including “NOT” in each one. Have I struck your imagination yet? This is a quick read that is thought-provoking and will probably make you smile and/or laugh out loud as well. Read the full article here.

Today is Maria Montessori's Birthday!
Maria Montessori was born August 31, 1870. On this special day, let us reflect about how someone born 148 years ago was able to create such an ingenious and enduring method of learning that is touching our lives in such a positive fashion today. We are so grateful for her insight and passion which we carry forth in our daily lives. Happy birthday Maria Montessori!
