A Great Beginning!
The 2018-19 academic year is underway! A warm “Welcome” to our new families and “Welcome Back” to our returning families!
Montessori Moments have been plentiful this week, touching my heart and making me feel proud to be a member of the TMA community. They’ve included…
- Viewing opening day photos posted on the TMA Family Network (some of the postings are pretty hilarious!);
- Seeing confident 1st level students bounding out of the car during morning car line (and receiving hugs from several of them!);
- Hearing from a parent that an older student called a rising 4th level student prior to the first day of school to welcome her to Upper Elementary;
- Receiving a thoughtful and delicious gift of brownies from an elementary family to share with the Admin Team. The children also made brownies to share with their classmates to celebrate the first week of school;
- Observing older students helping younger ones and two “veteran” moms showing compassion and providing support to a mom who was struggling with the transition of her young child; and
- A dad of an Elementary child new to TMA responding enthusiastically to my question, “How’s it going?” with, “There have been so many Montessori Moments already, I can’t wait to share!”
There is a palpable sense of community on campus and in the hallways! We want each of your to feel connected. If you are new to TMA, connecting to your classroom Bloomz! and The TMA Family Network are a couple of ways to get started. I also encourage each of you to carve out some time to read through the newly revised Family Guide. If you have any questions or need assistance in any way, please connect with one of us in the front office and we’ll be glad to help!

Pick Up 2017-18 Yearbooks
Anytime at the front desk
If you ordered a 2017-18 Yearbook and have not had the chance to pick up your copy, please stop by the front desk so you can enjoy the wonderful memories it inspires. We have extra copies available at the front desk in case you missed the opportunity to purchase one in the spring. The cost is $28 and includes tax.

Please review your address, phone numbers, emergency contacts, and transportation contact information so we can reach you when necessary and release your child(ren) only to those who are authorized.
Staff Appreciation Committee - Earn Community Service Hours!
Staff Appreciation was created by parents to show how much we appreciate all that the teachers and staff at TMA do for our kids! We provide either breakfast or lunch for the staff at TMA. This will be on the 2nd Friday of the month from September to May. A SignUp Genius will be created for each month for volunteer use. Please keep a look out. If anyone would like to help create the sign ups, let me know!

After School Activities
After school activities will begin after Labor Day! We are still gathering details from these talented individuals and will pass the schedule along as soon as it is available. One change to note is that we will no longer be able to collect payments at the front desk for after school activities. Program providers should instruct parents on how they will collect payment for their services.
Backyard Bash Committee Meeting
Tuesday, August 28, 8:30-9:00 am
We will have the first meeting for the Backyard Bash at TMA on Tuesday, August 28, at 8:30 am, after drop off. I am currently chairing this committee, but I would love to have a co-chair. If you would like to fill this position, please let me know. We also need many volunteers to help us to make this event successful, so please join us. If you aren't able to come to the meeting, we will post information on how you can be involved.

Reading Partner Training

Would you like to help our Toddler and Early Childhood students grow to become voracious readers? If so, please join us for Reading Partner Training on Tuesday, August 28, from 9:00-10:00 am. Please RSVP to Ashley and let the reading begin!
Labor Day School Holiday, No Class or Holiday Care
Monday, September 3
We want to remind you that there is no school or Holiday Care on Monday, September 3, in observance of Labor Day.
Grandparent's Day
Friday, September 7
Elementary—8:30, 9:20, 10:10, or 11:00 am
Early Childhood—11:30 am - 12:15 pm
We invite grandparents to visit their grandchildren in our Early Childhood and Elementary programs:
- Early Childhood — We would love for grandparents to join the fun during our outdoor activities and enjoy a walk through our Wildscape.
- Elementary — We invite grandparents to observe our morning Elementary Enrichment program. Grandparents should arrive at the beginning of any of the first 3 classes of the day (8:30, 9:20, or 10:10 am) or join students for lunch/recess at 11:00 am.
Please have grandparents stop by the front desk to obtain a visitor sticker, then we will guide them to the appropriate classroom. We are sure the children will love to see their grandparents at school!
Little Medical School at TMA
September 8,15, & 22, 1:00-3:00 pm
A parent has organized an opportunity for Extension and Elementary students to participate in the Little Medical School's the ABC's of Dog Care program at TMA. The class will meet for two hours on 3 Saturdays in September and the cost is $150 per child. You can sign up online to participate.
