Thoughts from the Head

Survey Says!

We received 89 responses to the Parent-Teacher Conference Survey which was sent out a couple of weeks ago. Thank you to all who participated! A participation rate of close to 50% is wonderfully encouraging!

In the survey, parents were asked to respond as to the level of agreement or disagreement with the following statements:

  1. The level of information I received at my conference met my expectations.
  2. The teacher knows my child.
  3. I had a clear understanding of my child’s experience at school from the discussion with the teacher.
  4. The teacher cares about my child’s success and well-being.
  5. I found the process of signing up for my conference to be easy.
  6. The duration of my conference was adequate to discuss all necessary topics.
  7. The conference was a good use of my time.

Teachers will be able to review the responses and comments for their individual classrooms. A compilation of responses for all programs is depicted in the chart below:

Parent-Teacher Conference Survey Results

The percentage of parents who selected “strongly agree” and “agree” ranged from 90% to 97% for all seven statements with the highest ratings (96-97%) given to Statements 2, 4, and 7. High participation and high agreement are incredibly positive and affirming results for school staff! I am particularly encouraged that 96-97% of respondents feel that your child’s teacher “knows your child and cares about your child’s success and well-being” and 97% believe the conference was a good use of your time. It is wonderful to receive the highest affirmation on the questions which we perceive to be of the greatest value to you.

While we celebrate these very high levels, we recognize that this does not reflect everyone’s experience. If your experience did not match this, I encourage you to touch base with your classroom teacher and let them know what needs to be “done differently” so your next conference experience more closely matches the results listed above.
