2018 Annual Report
The 2018 Annual Report is here! Let me know what you think of our accomplishments over the last school year. One of the accomplishments I am most proud of is the strength of our partnership with the 2018 graduating class. The average tenure of this class was 8 years; 80% were enrolled at TMA 9 or more years!
In addition to the Mission and Vision Dashboards, the Annual Report also includes financial data on the fiscal year that ended August 31, 2018. Please note that the financial data presented is a summary; a full set of year-end financials is available upon request. Year-end financials for the year ending August 31, 2018, will be available in January 2019, following the filing of the corporate tax return.
If you have any questions on any of the information contained in the Annual Report, please let me know and I’d be glad to share additional information or clarify any of the data.

Infant/Toddler PDO: Toilet Learning
Wednesday, October 17, 5:00-6:00 pm
Traditional toilet training can be very stressful for both the child and parent. It usually focuses on training a child using rewards and punishments. The Montessori approach to toilet learning puts the control of the process in the child's hands by focusing on the natural development of the child. This workshop will cover basic Montessori philosophy and a step-by-step guide for helping your child learn to use the toilet. Parents of toddlers, as well as, infants are encouraged to come. Toilet awareness starts at birth. Free childcare is provided; please RSVP to Ashley.
Early Childhood Family Trip
Friday, November 2, 2018
Save the date! The Annual Early Childhood Family Trip plans have been finalized for November 2. All Early Childhood families will go to Cedar Hill State Park for a long hike and enjoy a picnic lunch. The natural setting will be a great extension of our Zoology, Botany, and Outdoor curriculum areas, providing the opportunity for parents and children to identify leaves, trees, birds, and mammals. Look for details coming soon from your teachers. Please note, no Early Childhood/EC Extended Day classes will be held on this day.
Backyard Bash
Saturday, November 3, 2:00-5:00 pm
The Backyard Bash is a TMA community event that invites everyone to have a great time. This year's Bash will be a free event on Saturday, November 3, from 2-5 pm. We will have lots of fun backyard games as well as an inflatable obstacle course, petting zoo, musical entertainment, and the opportunity to make people plates for a small fee. We will also have food and snacks. It will be a great community event!
Sponsorship opportunities are now available. We have 3 levels of support this year, Gold, Silver, and Bronze. All levels provide:
The Gold and Silver levels sponsor an activity or a food/entertainment booth. Contact Lisa to become a sponsor!
If you would like to be involved in the planning of the Backyard Bash, there is a private Facebook group to share information. Just click on the link, then click Join, and you will be automatically accepted. The committee needs as many helpers as they can get!

Clothing Drive
Two Weeks: October 15-26
Bring gently used clothing to donate to students of S. Davis Elementary School in Arlington. Bins will be located in the hallways to drop off your donations.
Permaculture Project - Food Island
Permaculture is defined as the development of agricultural ecosystems intended to be sustainable and self-sufficient. Mr. Walt has attended training and begun the process of creating several permaculture ecosystems at TMA! We will be growing food in small spaces, using recyclable materials such as cardboard and dead wood to block weeds from sunlight to inhibit their growth. These materials act as a sponge to retain water and, with the addition of organic compost, create a natural fertilizer to support seed growth. Your children will see the process first-hand, as they will be involved in the process from the beginning, and learn about delayed gratification when they collect food from the garden. This fall we will be seeding lettuce, chard, and greens. How cool is that!
Alumni Update
Nate White, TMA class of 2013 who is currently a senior at Arlington High, received two awards in October:
He sat down with Dale Hansen for an interview in the WFAA studio and received a $2,500 scholarship award from Wingstop. Congratulations!
The NBC5 news story highlights Nate's academic achievements (4th in his class of over 600) and volunteerism (working with the Miracle League to help children with disabilities play baseball). He is a shining example of how a TMA education creates a lasting foundation of social and academic achievement.
